Jane Hermes, DC, is the President
and cofounder of Turbo Wheelchair Co., Inc. She has
the vision that the mobility limited deserve assistive
devices that convey the a spirit of life and vigor rather
than that of disability and illness.
As President of Turbo Wheelchair,
she has led the development of the Merlexi Craft™ series
of manual wheelchairs by gaining the financial support and
endorsement of the National Institutes of Health through the
Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program and by
aligning the Company with critical manufacturing, marketing

Matt Hermes, PhD, is
trained in organic and polymer chemistry and is inventor on
more than 30 US Patents throughout his career at DuPont,
Celanese and US Surgical.
Dr. Hermes has carried out
critical development of the Merlexi Craft™ manual
wheelchair. Starting with the conceptual model, he
has developed and manufactured the preproduction product
while managing the Company's Phase II SBIR grant. He
continues directing development of the Company's mobility
products.
These chairs include new thinking in design:
the freedoms in working with plastic materials, the options of attractive colors and
the durability and moderate cost inherent in synthetic
materials design.
The first Merlexi Craft™
prototype has proved to be the most durable wheelchair ever
tested at the Human Engineering Research laboratory at the
University of Pittsburgh, completing the equivalent of 30
years of use without failure.
The National Institutes of Health
has supported Turbo Wheelchair's work in developing the
Merlexi Craft™ series
through Small Business Innovative research (SBIR) grants.
